C. K. Mann supports two schools

C.K. Mann, an ace Ghanaian musician, has presented new school uniforms and exercise books to 200 pupils of the Al-Azharriya Islamic and the Catholic Primary schools in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis.

He said the conditions in those schools did not provide enough motivation to keep children in the classrooms, and that encouraged him to solicit support from members of the public, both home and abroad, towards the provision of the materials.

At a brief presentation ceremony,  Mann said he had been touched by the kind of uniforms the pupils wore during his visits to the schools.

Offering some pieces of advice to the pupils, he recounted that as a musician, he had had enough support from the public during his active days and it was about time he gave back to society, adding that “God made humans to be one another’s keeper.”

He added: “When the world has been kind to you and given you so much, you have to be kind to reciprocate that by helping the vulnerable and needy in society.

The Headmistress of Al-Azharriya Islamic Kindergarten School, Mrs Mercy Dadzie, expressed her profound gratitude to C. K. Mann and those who supported him.

The school, she said, was facing major infrastructural challenges.

She lamented, “the school has not been receiving the teaching materials needed to teach the children, compelling the teachers to improvise and teach the children with the little materials they have.”

At the Catholic Primary School, the headmistress, Mrs Cecilia Armah,  appealed to corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations to help the school and some of the needy, brilliant pupils to unearth their talents and motivate them to stay in the classrooms.

The schoolchildren expressed joy at the gesture through singing, drumming and dancing.
