The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of emergency and planned maintenance works scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in various regions across the country. 

The exercise, which forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance power supply reliability, is expected to result in temporary power outages in affected communities.

In the Western Region, ECG will undertake emergency maintenance works from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The areas to be affected include Ateiku, Esaman, Jerusalem, Akyempim, Akosombo, Kubekrom, Nsadweso, Subrie, and surrounding communities. The company noted that the brief outage is necessary to address urgent faults and restore stable service delivery in the region.

In the Ashanti Region, residents in several suburbs will experience an eight-hour interruption in electricity supply from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include Santase, Odeneho Kwadaso, OWASS, CAC University, Fankyenebra, Patase, Apire, Ampatia, Trede, Bebu, Ampabame No.1 and No.2, Edwenase, Kwadaso, Ohwumase, Asouyeboah, Tanoso, Takyiman, Denkyembuoso, Yabi, Kromoase, Agric Nema, Akyeremade, Twedie, Foase, Antoakrom, Manso Nkwanta, Nweneso, Trabuom, Boko, Yawkrom, Chichibon, Manso Adubia, and their environs.

In the Volta Region, ECG will carry out similar maintenance works affecting Hodzo and its surrounding areas. The exercise is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and aims to improve service delivery and minimise unplanned outages in the region.

The Greater Accra Region will also be affected by planned maintenance during the same period. Residents in Gbawe Top Base, McCarthy Hill, Weija Junction, Tetegu, Glefe, Wiaboman, Mallam Junction, South McCarthy Hill, White Cross, Choice, Sampa Valley, Kingshasha, Oyibi, Amrahia, Lakeside Estates, Community 6 and 8, New Legon, and neighbouring communities should expect interruptions in power supply between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Additionally, in the Tema Region, ECG will conduct planned maintenance between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The exercise will affect Jericho, Roman Down, Underbridge Market, Kanawu, Adjei Kodjo, Community 25, Bulasu, Ghana Flag, Afienya Zongo, Ahwiam, Magotsonya, Akplabanya, Goi, Kportitse Kope, Songor Salt, Mataheko, and surrounding areas.

In all the affected regions, ECG has apologised for the inconvenience the exercise may cause and assured customers that the maintenance works are part of its broader commitment to improving the quality and stability of electricity supply.

“We regret the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise,” ECG stated in its notices across the regions. Customers are advised to take necessary precautions during the period and treat all electrical appliances as live.
