‘I feel okay, I'm ready to play’ — Partey declares ahead of England showdown

Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has declared himself ready for Ghana's crucial FIFA World Cup Group L encounter against England after missing the team's opening victory over Panama.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Partey said he feels good physically and is eager to contribute as Ghana seeks to secure top spot in the group.

The experienced midfielder revealed that the team is in high spirits following the win over Panama and is fully prepared to face one of the tournament's strongest sides.

While acknowledging England's quality across all departments, Partey stressed that the Black Stars are determined to compete with the best, give their fans joy, and continue proving they belong on football's biggest stage.

"For me, now I feel okay. I'm ready to play," Partey said, adding that Ghana's focus is on working collectively as a team rather than relying on individual battles, including his anticipated midfield duel with England's Declan Rice.

He also emphasized the positive atmosphere in camp, noting that the players are enjoying the World Cup experience while remaining committed to learning, competing, and giving their all for Ghana.

The Ghana versus England FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage match will take place at the Boston Stadium (Gillette Stadium) in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 23, at 11 pm GMT.

The Stars will play their final group game against Croatia in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 27, at 9 pm GMT.
