Their exemplary lives as family heads, role models and active participants in the development of the parish for many years, were acknowledged in informal citations.

They cut a Father’s Day cake and were handed hampers and souvenirs to mark the occasion.

Past Fathers of the Year of the parish who were honoured included Messrs. Daniel Tambro, Emile Attah-Fynn, George Quarshie, Kwaku Kyeremeh, Albert Essien and Anthony Effah.

The rest were Messrs. Bartholomew Asare-Kumah, George Dapkallah, Joseph Garbrah, Anthony Fesu, and Dr John Abu.

The Associate Parish Priest of Corpus Christi, Rev. Father Philip Bempong who presided over the ceremony said the family was the basic unit of nationhood and society.

Fathers, therefore, had a critical role to play as heads of families, in ensuring that their influence on the children they were raising was a positive one.

While conceding that some fathers had not lived up to their responsibilities, Father Bempong said there was also growing societal recognition of commendable roles many fathers were playing in the care and development of children.

Dr Louis Doe Atsiatorme, an educationist, was installed the Parish’s Father of the Year for 2013.

Mr Cyril Tsribi Odonkor was crowned Male Youth Mentor of the Year 2013 for his contribution to the development of the parish and the success of parish youth programmes and activities.

The occasion coincided with the formal launch of the Parish’s website, www.corpuschristichurchgh.org

The site has information on the history of the parish, parish projects and programmes in the areas of education, youth development, pastoral care and spiritual development of parishioners as well as information on welfare and community outreach activities of the parish, marriage and pre-and marriage counselling programmes.

It also has the profiles and activities of various societies, groups and sectoral committees of the parish.
