That was to give the police time to carry out further investigations into the case.

Emmanuel Aryee, alias Kahn, a welder, had attacked the student in her hostel on the Korle Bu campus of the UGMS, at knife point at about 6.25 p.m. on January 29, 2015.

In a bid to escape from the accused, the student jumped from the second floor of the hostel and fell on the ground.

She crawled to the main entrance where she raised an alarm and Aryee was arrested with the laptop and Samsung mobile phone belonging to the victim.

The student reportedly sustained injuries and was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where she is on admission.

Aryee was charged with robbery. He has pleaded not guilty.

He is to re-appear before the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, on February 17, 2015.
