Lawrence Etin Oluwagbena, Samuel Uzomo Eromeosele and Nasiru Solomon Obaido pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

They are said to have robbed the alleged victim of his two laptops worth GH¢1,850 and a mobile phone valued at GH¢2,200 and also inflicted knife wounds on him.

A fourth accused person, identified only as John by the prosecution, is, however, on the run.

Facts

The facts of the case, as presented by the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, are that the complainant and the accused persons are students of the Wisconsin University College, a private university located in Accra.

According to the prosecutor, at about 7:30 p.m. on May 23, 2016, the complainant was in his room at Haatso Ecomog when he heard some people banging on his door.

“Oluwagbena, Eromeosele and Obaido entered the room and pulled a knife on the complainant. When he tried to hide his iPhone, the three men inflicted knife wounds on his finger and shoulder and succeeded in collecting the phone.

“They also took away his two laptops and left,’’ he said.

The prosecutor added that people in the neighbourhood helped to arrest Oluwagbena after the complainant had raised an alarm, but Eromeosele and Obaido managed to escape.

Chief Inspector Adu said Oluwagbena mentioned Eromeosele and Obaido as his accomplices.

“Eromeosele and Obaido reported themselves to the police after hearing that they were wanted,’’ he added.
