Nkwanta South curfew hours revised, 11 communities now under 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. restriction

The Minister for the Interior has revised the curfew hours for 11 communities in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, with residents now required to observe a curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The new curfew hours took effect on Monday, July 13, 2026, following advice from the National Security Council and were enforced through an Executive Instrument.

A statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior and posted on social media said the revised curfew applies to Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, Nyambo, Nyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye and Nkwanta.

The ministry did not indicate the incident or circumstances that informed the decision to maintain the curfew in the affected communities.

It appealed to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, the youth and residents to remain calm and use peaceful means to address their concerns in the interest of restoring and maintaining peace in the area.

The ministry said more information on the situation would be provided in due course.
