The Police has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old mobile phone dealer at the Teshie area of Accra.
The deceased, Nana Yaw Kyere, a mobile phone dealer at Nkrumah Circle area of Accra, commonly referred to as Dinero was initially reported missing on September 22, 2026.
However, last week, information filtered in indicated that he had visited a woman in the Teshie area of Accra and had been kidnapped and murdered, with his assailants attempting to burn his body.
There were suggestions Nana Yaw had suspected something bad was going to happen to him on the night of the incident and sent messages via mobile phone to a friend to show his live location.
A police statement issued on Monday (September 28), named the three suspects as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai.
They were arrested following investigations by the Missing Persons Unit of Ghana Police.
They were arraigned at the Teshie District Court on Monday, September 28 and have since been remanded to reappear on October 16, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026 in his Honda Civic vehicle and did not return.
Investigations revealed that the victim was lured to suspect Philip Tefe's residence at Teshie Agbleza by suspect Sarah Osei Adams.
Both suspects later confessed to their involvement and indicated that suspect Philip Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries.
The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended and later died.
Investigations further established that the victim's body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20, 2026, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Tema Community 18 on September 21, 2026.
The victim's biological mother and an uncle identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24, 2026.
The Police have also retrieved the victim's iPhone 12, which suspect Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100.
The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further investigations led to the arrest of suspect Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body.
His father's Kia Morning vehicle, believed to have been used to convey the body, has also been impounded.
The police said the three suspects are currently in Police custody and will be put before court as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case.
