Eight-year-old drowns in abandoned manhole at Budumburam Estate

An eight-year-old boy has died after falling into an abandoned, water-filled manhole at Blue Rose Estate in Budumburam.

According to the Budumburam Fire Station, they received a distress call at 7:40 am on Friday, November 28.

A rescue team arrived at the scene at 7:54 am, where they were informed that 16-year-old Andrews had already been pulled out and sent to St. Gregory Hospital.

Fire personnel immediately began a search-and-rescue operation for the second victim, eight-year-old Elijah Carbah.

He was eventually located and retrieved from the manhole and rushed to the same hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
