The Job 600 building

Elevators, scanners under routine maintenance - Parliament

Parliament has denied that two of the elevators of the newly refurbished Job 600 office complex have broken down.

It said the two elevators were under routine maintenance while certain parts were replaced.

The denial was contained in a rejoinder to a December 7, 2015 Daily Graphic publication in which it was reported that two of the six elevators had broken down while the security scanners were also out of order.

But the rejoinder from Parliament said the security scanners had also been turned off for routine maintenance.

“The office of Parliament wishes to state that as part of the contractural agreement with the contractors and facility managers, there is a one-year Defect Liability Period in which any defects or problems that may crop up would be immediately repaired or rectified by the contractors and facility managers and both parties are committed to ensuring that this agreement is adhered to,” it said.

It said the managers of the facility were on site to ensure that all malfunctioning parts were repaired or replaced.

According to the rejoinder, since the inauguration of the facility, Members of Parliament have moved into their various offices and were making the best use of the facility.
