A state funeral will be held for the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Black Star Square in Accra.
The funeral will be held under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Thursday [November 6, 2025].
"The Government of Ghana, under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, will hold a state funeral for the Late Former First Lady, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on Friday, 28th November, 2025 at the Independence Square," the statement read.
"The state funeral is in recognition of Mrs. Rawlings' invaluable contributions to the advancement of the rights of women and children in Ghana, and national development," it added.
Mrs Rawlings, Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, died on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
She served as First Lady from June 1979 to January 2001, spanning both military and civilian administrations.
She made history as the first woman to run for President of Ghana in 2016.
