Family sets date for 40-day observance of late Sarfo Assiamah, father of ex-Transport Minister
The Asona Adonten Family of Denkyira Tumantu Dominase, Breman, has announced that the 40-Day Observance for the late Mr Kofi Sarfo Assiamah, father of former Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, will be held on Friday, 12 December 2025.
Mr Assiamah, known widely as Sarfo Assiamah, passed away peacefully on Monday, 27 October 2025, at the Accra Medical Centre. He was remembered as a respected professional whose career spanned several key national institutions before he joined the then Social Security Bank, now Société Générale, rising to the position of Consumer Credit Manager. His life, colleagues said, was defined by integrity, diligence, entrepreneurship, and a deep sense of responsibility to family and community.
The 40-Day Observance will take place at Zulka Park, near the Dansoman Keep Fit Club, at 11 a.m. The commemorative gathering is expected to draw family members, friends, associates, and traditional leaders to honour the memory of a man described as principled and devoted.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the Asona Adontenhene of Denkyira Tumantu Dominase, Nana Kokorko II, said preparations had been finalised to ensure a dignified ceremony befitting Mr Assiamah’s enduring legacy. He noted that the late patriarch’s life had left an indelible mark on the community, and the observance would reflect both gratitude and reverence.
Mr Assiamah is survived by his widow, Mrs Dora Assiamah, and thirteen children, including former Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah. His children also include Patricia Assiamah Aidoo, Gifty Afua Assiamah, Papa Yaw Acheampong, Kofi Assiamah Jnr (Ashie), Sylvia Adjoa Assiamah Akumiah (deceased), Kofi Sarfo Assiamah, Pearl Rosalyn Nana Akua Asiedua Asiamah, Kwame Arko Assiamah, Nana Akosua Asantewaa Assiamah Owusu, Kate Maame Ama Ayemeduah Assiamah, and Kwaku Kyere Assiamah. He was also predeceased by his son, Peter A. Ashman (Kwaku Addai).
The family indicated that details of the final funeral rites will be announced in due course.
