Ghana Garden and Flower Show 2025 to champion greener cities

The 13th edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS) will take place from Saturday, 20th to Sunday, 28th September 2025 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra, with a strong focus on transforming Ghana’s urban landscapes into thriving green environments.

Organised by Strategic Communications Africa Ltd. (Stratcomm Africa), this year’s show is themed “Urban Places, Green Spaces” and seeks to promote greener, healthier, and more resilient cities in response to growing climate pressures. The initiative builds on ideas shared last year by United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ghana, Charles Abani, who stressed the need to integrate sustainability into urban planning.

Over nine days, the event will bring together local and international exhibitors, industry leaders in floriculture and horticulture, real estate developers, entrepreneurs, policy makers, families and students to explore innovative solutions for sustainable urban living. Activities will include daily exhibitions, the Green to Riches conference on green entrepreneurship, masterclasses, children’s programmes, and themed evening events such as Music Night, Drama Night, and the Fashion in Bloom Show.

Highlighting the urgency of the theme, Stratcomm Africa’s Chief Executive Officer and Convener of the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, Esther A. N. Cobbah, said: “In the face of global challenges with climate change, the transformation of our urban environment is not optional – it is an urgent necessity. This Show is not just an event; it remains a Movement. One that recognises green spaces as essential to how we live, work and thrive. We must be intentional about reclaiming our cities for both people and plants.”

She called on individuals, organisations, corporate bodies, educational institutions, government agencies and development partners to participate as exhibitors, sponsors, partners or visitors, stressing the collective responsibility to “turn our cities into thriving centres of health, innovation, beauty and shared prosperity.”

Since its inception in 2013, the Ghana Garden and Flower Show has promoted the environmental, commercial, aesthetic and health benefits of agriculture, floriculture and horticulture. It has also been recognised locally and internationally for contributing to socio-economic development and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

GGFS 2025 will once again serve as a platform for promoting climate-conscious urban planning while celebrating Ghana’s rich plant heritage and inspiring new business opportunities in the green economy.
