Ghana guaranteed gas from N-Gas

The country’s power sector has been guaranteed constant fuel source, as Nigeria Gas Company (N-Gas) and the transporters, the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), Tuesday resolved to continue uninterrupted gas supply to the Volta River Authority (VRA) for its thermal enclaves in Shama and Tema.

However, the Daily Graphic can authoritatively report that a few hours after the Thursday, October 15 midnight deadline, the volume of gas from Nigeria had dropped to zero and one unit of the Asogli Plant in Tema had been shut down due to low gas pressure.

The situation, as of the end of business yesterday, was ramping up from level zero to 30 million standard cubic feet (mmscf).

WAPCo’s response

When the Daily Graphic contacted officials of WAPCo, they confirmed the zero level and attributed the problem to a fault at one of its gas fields in Nigeria.
