1,242 Graduate from UniMAC
A total of 1,242 students graduated from the University of Media, Arts and Communication in Accra yesterday.
They comprised 1,027 students from the Institute of Journalism, 142 from the Institute of Languages and 73 from the Institute of Film & Television.

The Best Graduating Student in Print Journalism Award, sponsored by the Graphic Communications Group Ltd, was won by Annan Kezia Naa Kordei.
The Best Graduating Student in Broadcast Journalism Award went to Nyigmabo Samuel, who also received the Best Graduating Student in Journalism (Regular Programme) Award, while Boateng Anita was declared the Best Graduating Student in Advertising.
Other awardees were Best Graduating Student in Public Relations — Affram Carlene Abena Ameyaa; Best Graduating Student in Marketing-Anderson Perry Kwaku, with Affram Carlene Abena Ameyaa, as the Valedictorian.
Adaptation
The guest speaker, Kwami Sefa Kayi, highlighted the dynamics in public relations and the media space, and urged the graduates to adapt to the evolving demands of the industry.
He underscored the need for continuous self-improvement and innovation, saying “you must be deliberate about your craft and constantly reinvent yourself. The global stage demands world-class standards, and you must rise to the occasion”.
Mr Sefa Kayi also encouraged them to embrace a mindset of flexibility and focus, adding that “focus” is the essential key to success.

“You are best placed to win in this digital age if you learn to think differently and adapt to the rapidly changing landscape,” he said.
The media personality said the rise of Artificial Intelligence, social media, and other communication platforms had blurred the lines between reality and fiction.
He urged them to be intentional about their careers and always seek to improve and adapt to global standards.
Progress
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Eric Yankah, said the university had expanded its academic programmes and also created an environment that fostered innovation, critical thinking and commitment to excellence.

He said the vision of the university was to empower individuals to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
Prof. Yankah commended the graduates for their dedication, resilience and ability to seize opportunities.
He encouraged them to view themselves as ambassadors of knowledge, creativity and ethical responsibility as they embarked on the next phase of their lives.

The chairman further advised them to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world by pursuing lifelong learning through training, certifications and workshops, including joining professional associations and alumni networks.
Commitment
The Second Vice-Chancellor of UniMAC, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, said they were committed to advancing the university’s mission as a leading institution in media, arts and communication studies in the country.
He highlighted the university’s success in promoting gender representation, and said women constituted 73 per cent (887 students) of the graduating class.

“These statistics speak volumes about UniMAC’s ongoing commitment to increasing the representation of women in the media, arts and communication fields,” Prof. Mensah added.
He further stressed the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the curriculum, acknowledging its transformative role in media, arts and communication studies.
Prof. Mensah advised the graduates to embrace the “three Cs” of courage, confidence, and conviction.
