4 Arrested over murder of destooled chief
The police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the destooled Akwamuhene of Tanoso in the Ahafo Region.
The suspects, who are currently in custody assisting with investigations, were picked up on November 11 and 12, 2025.
They are Issifu Addae, aka Akwasi Addae, aged 48; Stephen Gyamfi, aged 55; Augustine Arhinful, aged 42, and Martha Mansah, aged 65.
Interrogation
A police situation report has, however, indicated that all four suspects have denied any involvement in the murder during interrogation.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Nana Korkor had been destooled as the Akwamuhene of Tanoso, following which Nana Akyeampong Duodu was installed as his successor,” the report said.
It said Nana Korkor rejected his destoolment and engaged the royal family in a series of court litigations as he sought to reverse the destoolment act.
The destoolment happened when he was accused of misappropriating five gold bars belonging to the family and selling family land to a private developer.
Response
“Suspects Issifu, Stephen, Sampson and Fosu reportedly visited the disputed land to prevent the developer from continuing work, and seized his block-moulding machine.
During the confrontation, they allegedly threatened to ‘teach the Nana Korkor a lesson’,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Nana Akyeampong Duodu, considered a relevant factor in tackling the puzzle, is believe to have traveled to the United States, the report said.
It said police investigations were ongoing.
