Fondly referred to as Ackah in the newsroom of the Graphic Sports, he rose to become the President of the Sports Writers Association (SWAG).
He joined the Graphic family in 1996 as one of the experienced journalists to further bolster an already strong Sports Unit headed by Joe Aggrey and which had Felix Abayateye, the late Sam Okaitey, Samuel Kissiedu, Ekow Asmah and Rosalind K. Amoh.
Consumate journalist
Within the journalism fratenity, he was considered a consummate journalist who showed deep knowledge not just in sports, but also general affairs.
He showed the highest level of professionalism, and was a stickler for time and always ensured that production timelines were strictly adhered to.
As one of the experienced hands at the unit, Mr Anthony mentored many of the young reporters who either joined the unit on internship or as national service persons.
He was the journalist's Sub Editor, who would meticulously go through the stories filed by reporters, to ensure that the end product was worth the reader's time.
A man of few words, Mr Anthony poured his words in his writings and his column, the Candid Corner in The Mirror, a column he took over after the Editor, Joe Aggrey left, was reflective of who he was: few words, yet good enough to convey his strong opinions about issues.
Service, training
Though a naturally reserved person, Mr Anthony nonetheless availed himself for service and in 2007, was elected the sixth President of the SWAG, a position he held until he served out a two-term tenure in 2015, choosing not to seek re-election.
He was also a committed member of the Ghana Journalists Association
Mr Anthony had his professional training at the University of Media, Arts and Communication -GIJ, then known as the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
