Musah Ahmed sworn in as Judicial Secretary

The Judicial Council has a new Secretary: Musah Ahmed.

He was sworn into office last Wednesday, following his appointment by the President on the advice of the Judicial Council, in accordance with Article 148 of the 1992 Constitution.

The appointment takes immediate effect.

He was sworn in by the acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, in his office.

Mr Ahmed, with over 25 years of legal experience, becomes the 17th Judicial Secretary since the First Republic.

Profile

Until his appointment, he was in private practice and the CEO of Ahmed Legal Consult, specialising in Maritime Law, Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, as well as Land and International Law.

Mr Ahmed, as a private legal practitioner, provided legal advisory services to the diplomatic mission and, at one point, served as the Vice-Chairman of the Hajj Board.

As a founder member of the Legal Resources Centre, Mr Ahmed contributed to expanding access to justice and strengthening institutional capacity.

He holds an LLM in National Security Law from the University of Ghana, having earned his LLB with Honours from the same university in 1997.

He was called to the Bar in 1999 after earning his qualifying certificate from the Ghana School of Law, where he emerged as the Best Student in Advocacy and Legal Ethics.

The new Judicial Secretary is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
