Other contestants in the race were independent aspirant, Ransford Antwi, and Sampson Alannyina Sampana of the People's National Convention (PNC).
Mr Antwi polled 8,294 votes, while Mr Sampana obtained 222 votes.
However, before the Sunyani East Municipal Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jona Seli, announced the results, some young people believed to be supporters of the NDC stormed the collation centre to attack EC officials for delaying the announcement of the results.
The agitators forced open the main entrance of the University of Ghana (UG) College of Education Learning Centre to access the collation centre to cause further damage.
They clashed with security personnel and broke the sliding windows of the facility, forcing the EC to declare the Parliamentary results.
It took the swift intervention of the security personnel to stop the agitators from causing further damage to the facility.

After sensing danger, the EC decided to declare the parliamentary results for the angry youth to leave the scene so it could continue the collation of the presidential results.
The agitators said they could not understand why the EC had not been able to complete the collation of the results since last Saturday.
They said almost all the constituencies in the region had declared their results, except the Sunyani East Constituency.
In all, 116,982 registered voters were expected to cast their votes in 260 polling centres, including the special voting centres in the area.
