Bimobas, others appeal for Nalerigu-Nakpanduri-Bunkpurugu road construction
The National Association of Bimoba, Moba and Gurma (NABMAG) has made a passionate appeal to the government to construct the Nalerigu-Nakpanduri-Bunkpurugu road which is in a deplorable state, to boost socio-economic activities and open up the area.
The association said the deplorable nature of the road had retarded development and created insecurity in the area.

The President of NABMAG, Amos Mateyennu Konsab, who made the appeal, lamented that the road networks had been neglected by successive governments over the past years after many unfulfilled promises to fix it.
"The road from Nakpanduri to Garu and also other access roads connecting various communities are in a deplorable state. We are paying taxes so why can't they use our taxes to construct the road? We feel neglected,” he said.
Congress
He was speaking at the first edition of the NABMAG congress at Bunkpurugu last Saturday, which was on the theme: “Reconnecting our Roots, Building Peace and Unity for Development; the Role of National Association of Bimoba, Moba and Gurma”.
Participants in the congress
The congress brought together the youth, queenmothers, chiefs and members from the diaspora, to network and deliberate on how to champion the progress and development of the Bimobaland.
Mr Konsab underscored the hardship faced by communities due to poor road conditions along the Nalerigu-Nakpanduri-Bunkpurugu route.
He indicated that the persistent misconceptions labelled against the area as a conflict zone by a section of the public were deterring some investors and development agencies.

He, therefore, appealed to the residents to be ambassadors of peace by fostering a welcoming image that would attract more development to the region.
Additionally, he urged the residents to peacefully coexist and not allow themselves to be used to foment trouble in the upcoming election.
The National Women Organiser of NABMAG, Rev. Dr Gillian Sabillia Gellian, urged residents of Bimbagu to resolve differences through dialogue rather than using violent means.
