Christian Service University offers scholarships to Asafo community

The Christian Service University (CSU) in Kumasi has offered scholarships to the people of Asafo in the Ashanti Region to pursue tertiary education, particularly at the undergraduate level in the institution.

Per the scholarship, the university would support two brilliant, needy students every four years; one of them to pursue either a course in nursing or midwifery and the other to pursue any undergraduate programme in the university.

The support, which commences in September this year, would cover tuition fees only, with recipients being responsible for their own accommodation and incidental expenses.

Visit

The Vice-Chancellor, CSU, Professor Samuel K. Afrane, announced this when he led a delegation to pay a working visit to the Asafohene, Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, at his palace to present the official documentation of the offer.

He said the gesture formed part of the institution’s commitment to social impact and educational empowerment within its operational areas and said, “this CSU’s scholarship package to the people of Asafo is intended to propel the development of the area”.

“The scholarship, which stems from CSU’s corporate social responsibility, will support two brilliant, needy Asafo students every four years, one in nursing or midwifery, and the other in any undergraduate programme at CSU”, he stressed.

Presence

Professor Afrane added that the gesture followed the Asafohene’s presence at the CSU’s 50th anniversary grand durbar last year, when he represented the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He said in appreciating Asafohene’s presence at the ceremony, CSU pledged to contribute meaningfully to Asafo’s educational development by offering scholarships to brilliant, needy students in the area to acquire higher education.

Gratitude

Expressing his gratitude,  Akyamfuor Agyemang-Bonsu commended the management of CSU for its commitment towards transforming lives through education.

He emphasised the value of higher education in building stronger communities.

He added that through the scholarship, the necessary human resources would be trained to contribute to the development of the area and the nation as a whole.

Further, he assured the people that the scholarship would be awarded to deserving candidates to achieve the intended purposes.

Expanding access

Beyond its partnership with Asafo, CSU continues to offer academic scholarships to high-performing SSSCE/WASSCE candidates nationwide.

Students who apply to the university with an aggregate of 6 to 15 in six subjects comprising three core and three electives are eligible for consideration under CSU’s merit-based scheme.

This initiative reflects the university’s mission to make quality tertiary education accessible to Ghana’s brightest minds.

With these efforts, CSU reinforces its identity as a university deeply rooted in Christ-centred values, academic excellence, and community development.
