First Lady builds basic school for Wiaboman community
The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, inaugurated a basic school at Wiaboman in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality in Accra last Friday.
The public school was built by the Rebecca Foundation after the First Lady visited the community in 2020 where the chiefs and people appealed to her to help them get a primary school.

Hitherto, pupils in the area had to travel as far as Mamprobi, Dansoman, Glefe or Weija and this sometimes resulted in some of the children being knocked down by cars among other accidents.
Mrs Akufo-Addo said her aim was to get all children in the community to receive basic education as that was the only foundation that could propel their future.
She said the Rebecca Foundation was committed to the construction of schools, health facilities among other infrastructure to better the lives of the vulnerable in the society.
The First Lady was hopeful that the opening of the school would help in providing a solid educational foundation for the pupils in the community, saying primary education helped children to build themselves for the future.
She said the government of Akufo-Addo was bent on brightening the future of children in the country by giving prominence to education which she said was evident in the provision of free education for senior high school children across the country.
Mrs Akufo-Addo called on people to vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, saying he was a problem solver and a visionary leader.

She also called on the people to vote for Jerry Ahmed Shaib as he was committed to the development of the area.
The MCE for Weija-Gbawe, Michael Danquah, said the building of the primary school in the community was a testament to the many developmental projects of the NPP.
The Jaasetse of Wiaboman, Nii Oboja Nunoo, on behalf of the chiefs and people, thanked the Rebecca Foundation and the First Lady for the school.
He was grateful to the First Lady for paying heed to their cries over the years, saying, “we have cried a lot over the lack of education in our community as our children have to go to as far as Mamprobi to access basic education”.

“But today the First Lady has made it a dream come true for us,” he said.
The aspiring Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Shaib thanked the First Lady for the school, saying it had come to stay in the community as one of the first by the NPP for the area with the others being electricity, water, sea defence wall and a health facility.
He said the NPP government was about development and called on the people to vote massively for the party come December 7.
