King of Grace Chapel adopts health centre, gives facelift

Members of the King of Grace Chapel, Ghana, last Saturday voluntarily painted the entire buildings of the health centre at Akyem Asene near Oda to give the facility a facelift.

They also cleared weedy surroundings, trimmed flowers, scrubbed the floor and filled potholes to improve sanitation in the environment.

Speaking to the media after the voluntary work, the Founder and Leader of the church, Apostle Frank Nkansah, said the exercise formed part of the church’s seventh anniversary celebration.

Adopted

He said the church, whose headquarters was located at Asene, had decided to adopt the health centre to develop it to an appreciable level.

The Senior Physician Assistant in charge of the Asene Health Centre, Derek Wogodo, commended the church for the gesture, stressing that it was the first time in the facility’s history for a religious body to offer such assistance to the centre.

He appealed to other religious bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and affluent individuals to help the health centre solve its numerous challenges.

Mr Wogodo mentioned some of the challenges as a lack of microscopes, a full blood count machine, furniture and beds for the wards.

The church later on Sunday climaxed the seventh anniversary with a grand church service at its headquarters at  Asene, which was attended by its members from all the 10 branches and some dignitaries.

The dignitaries included the Krontihene of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyereh; a former Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central, Victoria Adu; the General Manager for South Birim Rural Bank, Gladys Okyere, and the Birim Central Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Newton Fragbibenu.

In an inspiring speech, Apostle Nkansah spoke about the circumstances that led to his calling by the Omnipotent God to establish the new church, after serving as a presiding elder of the Church of Pentecost for 32 years, with the mission of leading unbelievers to their Creator.

He stressed the need for Ghanaians to commit themselves to God in order to attain everlasting salvation and prosperity in all their endeavours.

Apostle Nkansah cautioned Christian leaders never to abuse their positions by exploiting church members or the poor, stressing that such individuals instead needed guidance and support to prosper in life.

He said the church had empowered more than 20 girls by training them as hairdressers and seamstresses and equipping them with sewing machines, dryers, and other tools to sustain their livelihoods.

On behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central, Solomon Kusi-Brako, Mr Fragbibenu donated two packets of roofing sheets to the church for its ongoing projects.
