KNUST SHS cries for help

The Management of the KNUST Senior High School has made a passionate appeal to the government and other stakeholders in the educational sector to help the school complete its 40-unit classroom block to improve teaching and learning.

The project, when completed, would have classrooms and laboratories for all the science subjects such as chemistry, physics and biology, and ICT labs in addition to visual arts studios.

However, since 2008, the project has stalled, forcing the management of the school to convert classrooms into laboratories, which denies the students quality education.

Grade A school

At the launch of the 65th anniversary of the school, the headmaster, Anthony Duodu Antwi Boasiako, said that when the stalled project was completed, it would improve the performance of the school in science, enabling it to compete with the Grade A schools in the country.

He, thus, reiterated the call for a speedy completion of the project to improve teaching and learning at the school and reduce the stress on the students.

The anniversary is on the theme: “Celebrating 65 Years of Discipline and Responsible Behaviour: Pathway to Sustainable National Development," and would be climaxed in June 2026.

Success

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Thomas Kwame Boateng, for his part, urged the students, especially WASSCE candidates, to take their studies seriously and work hard to excel in their examinations with flying colours.

He advised them to avoid examination malpractice, which, he said, had unfortunately become quite rampant recently, leading to some candidates having their results cancelled or withheld.
