Kuukua Baah-Twum has been inducted into office as the new President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Labone.

She takes over from Frank Owusu Adjei to lead a 22-member board to steer the activities of the club for the 2024/2025 Rotary Year, which spans July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

The board includes: the Vice-President, Lamtiig Apanga; Secretary, Elorm A. Adagwine; Treasurer, Kingsley Blay Ackah; Director one, Theresa A Agbodo; Director two, Gifty E. Annan-Myers; Committee Chairs Projects, Bernard Atta-Sonny, and Club Administration, Ernest Asante.

Others are Membership, Mercy Odzawo; Fund-raising, Joyce K. Nimley; Rotary Foundation, Gertrude W Johnson;  New Generation, Ebenezer Yaw Obuobi; Public Image, Edward Edmond Bray; and Sargeant at Arms, Nana Kobina Vroom.

At the induction ceremony in Accra last week, citations were presented to dedicated members in recognition of their loyalty, dedication and service to the club.

Vision

The inducted President, Rotarian Baah-Twum, expressed appreciation for the trust reposed in her and acknowledged the inspiring legacy of past leaders.

She reflected on her Rotary journey: “Nine years ago, I walked into this room as a guest and I was warmly welcomed — possibly over-welcomed — and quietly convinced that this was the club I’d one day call home. Well… here we are.”

Ms Baah-Twum said her vision for the club was to carry out life-changing projects within the communities and beyond.

She said her leadership agenda focused on “Rebuilding the bond and rekindling the fellowship”, an intentional effort to strengthen interpersonal connections within the club while also amplifying its public service.

Ms Baah-Twum unveiled flagship projects for the year, including dental screening at New Horizon Special School, support to the Children’s Ward of Nsawam Government Hospital, a joint health screening and beach cleaning at Winneba, as well as the renovation of the La Yahoushua School JHS Block in Labone.

She called on all Rotarians and supporters to contribute their quota.

“Whether you're a planner, a doer, a donor or the one who remembers the pull-up banner — we need you,” she said.

Achievements

The outgoing President of the club, Mr Adjei, expressed appreciation to the board, Assistant District Governor Violet and members of the club for their commitment, dedication and support that ensured a successful term.

He highlighted key achievements during his term to include the distribution of sanitary towels to schoolgirls, a water project at Peki, the renovation of washrooms, the donation of stationery to La Yahoushua Basic School and water project at Mephibosheth.

Mr Adjei said while the club was unable to commission one final project, the club successfully delivered most planned objectives.
