Let’s invest more in tourism to create jobs — Sub chief

Nimdikesehene of Gomoa Assin Traditional Council, Nana Kwesi Essel Okyeahene, has appealed to the government to invest more in the tourism sector to create jobs.

The traditional ruler, who is also an educationist, revealed that tourism alone could generate more revenue for the country in addition to the other natural resources.

Nana Essel Okyeahene, who doubles as the Director of the Young Executive and Onua Francis schools in the Awutu Senya East municipality and the Gomoa East District, underscored the need for sound environmental practices in order to attract tourists.

Nana Essel Okyeahene made the call when he and 25 pupils returned from Malaysia as part of the annual educational tour.

Appeal

He appealed to the Ministry of Education to focus more on technical education in order to equip the youth with hands-on skills to enable them to set up their own businesses to reduce unemployment after school.

Some of the children spoke of how clean Malaysia was and urged Ghanaians to emulate that.

The students, who embarked on an educational and relaxation tour in Malaysia, had the opportunity to explore fascinating and educational places, enjoy shopping, and experience the culture and hospitality in the country.

Heroes

They visited the National Monument, where they learned about Malaysia’s departed heroes and their contributions to the nation, as well as toured the Royal Palace, the residence of the King of Malaysia, admiring its cultural and historical significance.

The group also visited the Heritage/Independence Square, where the independence of Malaysia was declared on August 31, 1957.

They also toured the world-famous Petronas Twin Towers, the second-tallest twin buildings in the world, among other places.
