MoH equips Ga North Municipal Hospital with GH¢15m medical items
The Ga North Municipal Hospital at Ofankor, has received a consignment of medical equipment to boost its healthcare delivery services.
The items, numbering over thirty and worth GH¢15 million, include key resources such as anesthesia machines, incubators, nebuliser, Echocardiogram (ECG) machines, stem steriliser, stethoscopes, hospital beds, delivery sets, ward screen among others.
They were presented by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who explained that the gesture followed a surprise visit where it was discovered that the hospital was operating without some critical resources.
Capital imvestment
Mr Akandoh emphasised that the items represented a capital investment and urged hospital authorities to ensure proper maintenance and effective use of the equipment for the benefit of patients.
He emphasised that it was the gesture was also reflective of the government’s commitment to strengthening existing health facilities.
He further noted that healthcare delivery depends on infrastructure, personnel, and equipment, noting that it is unwise to allow existing facilities to deteriorate while focusing only on new construction.
Great relief
The Medical Superintendent of the Ga North Municipal Hospital, Dr Victor Caesar, who received the items on behalf of the management of the hospital, described it as a ‘great relief’ as it would help improve the facility’s efficiency.
He said serving as a vital healthcare institution in the municipality and providing essential medical services to the local community, the hospital lacked a number of essential equipment, thus the gesture from the minister was greatly appreciated.
He, thus on behalf of the hospital, expressed profound gratitude, noting the joy and relief of staff, especially for the anesthesia machines, which had been urgently needed for years.
Dr Caesar assured the minister that the equipment will be well maintained, as the facility has a strong culture of preserving and maximising the use of medical resources.
