NMC appoints Dr Isaac Okpoti Nai New Times MD
The National Media Commission (NMC) has appointed Dr Isaac Okpoti Nai as the new Managing Director (MD) of the New Times Corporation (NTC).
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, was made in accordance with Article 168 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 2(1)(e) of the National Media Commission Act, 1994 (Act 449).
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the NMC, George Sarpong, Dr Nai is described as an accomplished management executive, academic and corporate leader with more than 25 years of professional experience spanning financial management, corporate governance, strategic planning, internal audit, risk management and organisational development in Ghana and the United Kingdom.
About Dr Nai
Before his appointment, Dr Nai served as General Manager in charge of Finance and Administration at the State Housing Company Limited.
He also previously held the positions of Executive Secretary of the Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme and Interim Managing Director of the State Housing Company Limited, where he contributed to the management and administration of the institution.
Over the years, Dr Nai has held senior leadership positions with the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), the local chapter of Transparency International, the Central Region Development Commission, the London Borough of Croydon, the London Borough of Merton and Ananemantey & Company.
His experience cuts across donor-funded organisations, local government authorities, financial institutions and higher educational establishments, giving him a broad understanding of governance, administration and institutional management.
Dr Nai holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Financial Management from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom, an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Greenwich and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana.
As Managing Director, Dr Nai would provide leadership for the corporation’s operations, strengthen its financial sustainability and support efforts to enhance the quality and reach of its publications.
