PKF Ghana supports Accra Psychiatric Hospital

An accounting and auditing firm, PKF Ghana, has presented assorted items to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The firm handed over bags of rice, vegetable oil, water, beverages, toiletries, detergents, and clothes to help ease some of the logistical challenges faced by the country’s oldest psychiatric management hospital.

The corporate social responsibility of the accounting firm is also to support the hospital in celebrating the Christmas season and cement the firm’s long-standing support for mental health.

Rationale

Speaking to the Daily Graphic after the presentation last Friday, a Senior Partner of the firm, Dominic Dorkenoo, explained that the donation aligned with the firm’s dedication to addressing urgent social needs.

He added that the gesture was part of their commitment to mental health issues, an area that often lacked sufficient attention in Ghana.

“This is our way of giving back to society and showing that we also care for one particular area where it appears that there is some neglect,’’ he said.

Mr Dorkenoo also explained that they supplied these items after the hospital had outlined its immediate requirements upon prior interactions.

“Mental health can affect anybody. If you have not been diagnosed, it doesn’t mean that you are entirely okay.

He stressed that the annual donation gave the team a sense of contribution and fulfilment.

Gratitude

For her part, a Senior Administrative Officer of the hospital, Miriam Nutakor, who received the items on behalf of the health facility, expressed appreciation for the firm’s continued support.

She also explained that the hospital valued partners who responded to its specific needs and acknowledged the consistency of PKF Ghana’s visits and its commitment to patients’ welfare.
