"Agenda 111 is a proactive measure to strengthen our healthcare infrastructure," he said.

"The COVID-19 pandemic taught us a valuable lesson  — we cannot afford to wait until another pandemic catches us off guard," he added.

However, the chief expressed concern over the slow pace of work on the Agenda 111 hospital project in the Pru West District in his traditional area, and urged the government to expedite payment to contractors to ensure timely completion.

Visit

Nana Nyarko made the commendation in an interaction with journalists at his palace in Prang after paying a surprise visit to the Agenda 111 hospital project site.

During the visit to the site, Nana Nyarko III assured workers that he would make known their concerns and commended them for not abandoning the project in spite of delays.

"I will use my office to ensure that the necessary support is provided to complete this vital project," he promised.

Background

The Agenda 111 project aims to construct 111 hospitals across Ghana, with the Pru West facility serving as a critical healthcare hub for the Bono East Region.

Nana Nyarko’s endorsement adds to growing support for the initiative, which is seen as a key component of Ghana's post-pandemic recovery strategy.

MP

The Pranghene also commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Stephen Jalula, for his efforts to develop Pru West, and cited the numerous projects that would be showcased during this year’s Nkyifie Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of Prang.

"This is the first time Prang has had an MP who has brought so much development to the area," Nana Nyarko said, and expressed his appreciation for Mr Jalula's dedication.
