Presby Church Ghana marks 190 years anniversary
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has marked its 190 years anniversary with a commitment to continue to live up to its mandate as a true Bible-believing and practicing church.
A statement issued and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the PCG, Rev George Ezekiel Larbi in Accra, indicated that the church was formed on December 18, 1828, when the first batch of missionaries of the Basel Evangelical Mission Society in Basel Switzerland arrived in the Gold Coast with the main aim of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“They toiled and labored to establish what has now become the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG)”, it said.
Achievements
After 190 years, it said the PCG could now boast of twenty one Presbyteries, both home and abroad which include Asante, Akuapem, Kwahu, Dangme- Tongu, Ga, Ga West, Asante South, Central, Western, Brong Ahafo, West Brong, Sefwi, Sekyere, Akyem Abuakwa, West Akyem, Volta, Upper, Northern, North American /Australia, Europe and Asante Akyem.
“The PCG over the years has contributed immensely to socio-economic development to Ghana through education at all levels from crèche to university, health care delivery, agriculture, business, entrepreneurship and many more”, it stated.
Additionally, it said the PCG now has 55 health institutions spread all over the country in Agogo, Bawku, Dormaa-Ahenkro, Donkorkrom, Bolgatanga, Salaga, Tease, Konongo, Duayaw-Nkwanta, Garu, Sandema, etc making it the third largest provider of health services in Ghana.
On education, it noted that the PCG currently has over 2,400 basic schools, about 30 Senior High Schools, 5 Colleges of Education, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Nursing Training Colleges, a University, Two Research Institutes, and five Training Centers.
