The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has dedicated a Reproductive and Child Health Centre at the Presbyterian Health Service at Enchi, symbolising the church’s commitment to both spiritual and physical well-being.
The inauguration formed the highlight of the Moderator’s tour of the Enchi District as part of his pastoral tour of the Western Presbytery.
He said the provision of the facility, which would bring effective delivery of health service to the area, reaffirmed the church’s dual commitment to spiritual renewal and social development.
The moderator said the church was not only keen on the spiritual development, but also on their physical well-being, stating that the PCG would always be vocal in defending both moral and social integrity.
Interacting with the staff, Rt Rev. Opare Kwakye commended them for their dedication and selfless service, urging them to uphold the Presbyterian values in their work.
He reminded them that healthcare delivery, particularly in a PCG facility, was not merely business but ministry, saying, “Every time you step on this ground, you are a Presbyterian. Health care here is a sacred calling.”
Pastoral tour
The tour of the Central and Western Presbyteries saw the moderator and his delegation visit Pedu, Assin Fosu, Bogoso, Tarkwa, Enchi, Manso Amenfi and Takoradi.
During the tour, which took place from November 11 to 16, the Moderator and his delegation interacted with congregants and agents of the church and also made donations to some districts, notably the newly inaugurated Manso Amenfi District.
Apart from the cash donation, the moderator donated some equipment to local entrepreneurs to support their economic ventures.
Message
Interacting with congregants and leaders across several districts, the moderator reemphasised his message, urging members to remain steadfast in prayer, unity and service.
Rt Rev. Opare Kwakye reminded them that the true foundation of the PCG “is Jesus Christ”.
“Let us pitch our tents in Christ, not in the fallen world,” he said, cautioning against division and compromise.
He also encouraged congregants to build on the heritage of faith laid by their forebears, praising the districts for their growth rates.
Bicentennial anniversary
As the church prepares for its bicentennial anniversary in 2028, Rt. Rev. Dr Opare Kwakye urged members to celebrate with unity and pride, encouraging them to aim at the national target of 10 per cent under the PCG’s Agenda 2Million.
He stated that evangelism and discipleship were the bedrock of sustainable church growth, thus the need for everyone to play their part.
“The PCG must continue to grow as both a spiritual family and a force for national development, rooted firmly in Christ,” the Moderator emphasised.
Rt Rev. Opare Kwakye used the opportunity to solicit support for the Kutunse Project, the PCG’s flagship conference centre under construction, which will also be the legacy for the 200th anniversary celebration.
