He said much as the elections meant a lot in shaping the future of the country, the prevailing peace was paramount and added that elections were not about violence, but the exchange of ideas.

Dr Bawumia, who was addressing congregants of some churches within the Weija-Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Region yesterday, also pointed out that without peace, power to govern was worthless.

He was accompanied by the NPP Parliamentary aspirant for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib; the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover; the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi; a former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyapong; the NPP parliamentary aspirant for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Emmanuel Tobbin, and some leaders of the party.

The Vice-President also visited the Disciples of Christ Ministries, also in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, which is headed by Apostle Mrs Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr John Kumah.

Dr Bawumia first visited the Hills Pentecostal Church at Gbawe, the Mandela Assembly of the Church of Pentecost and the New Jerusalem Presbyterian Church, all at the SCC-GICEL Estates area.

The NPP flag bearer also visited the Ayigbe Town District of the Church of Pentecost.
Making reference to Mathew 19:26, Dr Bawumia urged the clergy to pray for the country, for him and for the parliamentary aspirants of the NPP.

Anyaa-Sowutuom

At the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Dr Bawumia was mobbed by traders at the Ablekuma-Pokuase intersection, commonly called Ablekuma curve, upon stepping out of the bus carrying the touring team.

He went on to interact with pedestrians and the traders, after which he addressed a gathering of NPP supporters.

Sharing his "Bold Solutions" message with the supporters, he assured them of employment opportunities with the training of a million youth in digital skills should he become President.

He urged them to vote for him and the NPP parliamentary aspirant in the constituency, Mr Tobbin.

Dr Bawumia later engaged the clergy, imams, chiefs and opinion leaders in the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency at the campus of the  Pentecost University at Sowutuom.

Sheikh Suraka, who spoke on behalf of the imams, appealed for development projects and interventions that would benefit residents of the entire constituency.

He described the rise of Dr Bawumia as divine-driven, saying since independence, the country had not had a Muslim leader.

A representative of the Christian clergy, Rev. Joseph Blay, also lauded Dr Bawumia for his humility, and urged Ghanaians to support him.

A market leader, Esther Duah, asked Dr Bawumia not to forget market women should he become President, and stressed the need for all to support the NPP flag bearer.

Ms Duah said the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy had brought a huge relief to mothers.

The Sowutuom Mantse, Nii Osabu Akwei I, also called for an all-hands-on-deck approach to the development of the country.

Policies

Dr Bawumia explained the policies of the government to the leaders, and said education was key to development, hence the reason the government prioritised education and introduced Free SHS and free technical and vocational education training.

He emphasised the importance of the restoration of the nursing training and teacher training allowances, as well as the construction of the Agenda 111 hospitals.

He said for the first time in the country, the government introduced the Zongo Development Fund as a catalyst to develop zangos through Information and Communications Technology centres, improved sanitation and the offering of scholarships to about 40 students from the zango communities to study medicine in Cuba.
