Saint Francis College of Education at Hohoe holds matriculation for 450 students

A total of 450 students have been matriculated into the Saint Francis College of Education (FRANCO) at Hohoe in the Volta Region.

They are 266 males and 184 females.

The ceremony was held on the theme, Transforming minds: The teacher as a bedrock.”

The Acting Registrar of the FRANCO, Samuel Edem Ayetor, administered the matriculation oath.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Principal of FRANCO, Dr Adwoa Kwagyiriba asked the students to consider themselves lucky to have gained admission into such a prestigious college.

“You are privileged to be the seventh batch to be awarded a Bachelor of Education degree in Basic Education in the next four years”, she said.

Dr Kwagyiriba said they should reciprocate that by being serious with their studies to come out as the ideal catalyst in the quest for knowledge.

She said the teaching and non teaching staff of the college were ready to offer them their best to obtain the required qualifications they deserve.
she reminded the students that management was not going to tolerate students who would absent themselves from the classroom without any justifiable reason.

Dr Kwagyiriba advised against students removing electric bulbs which were provided by management at various vantage locations.

Teachers, the principal said, shaped the perspectives, instilled discipline and values of future leaders, and as such as they were beginning the lifelong journey, they must make their presence on campus more profitable to enable them to mould the children who would pass through their hands.

Dr Kwagyiriba noted that to improve admissions into the college, management was doing its best to complete a 300-bed capacity dormitory and had also opened their doors to private developers for partnership to construct hostels on campus.

The General Course Representative, Bismark Ofori-Danso, reminded his colleagues that their prime objective was to acquire knowledge so that they would avoid engaging in acts that would prevent them from meeting their objectives.

He expressed the hope that a supportive atmosphere would be provided for them by the management of the college.
