Tepahene sets ambitious investment target - Marks Silver Jubilee Saturday

The Omanhene of Tepa in the Ashanti Region, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, has set an ambitious target to increase investment in education in his traditional area as he marks the Silver Jubilee of his enstoolment on Saturday.

He said traditional leadership was all about improving the welfare of the people, which was why he intended to devote more time and resources to address the pressing concerns of the traditional area.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Tepa ahead of the grand anniversary durbar to be held in Tepa in the Ahafo North Municipality, the Omanhene said the investment would mostly be in the form of scholarships and infrastructural projects.

Investments

Nana Adusei Ampem has already donated 100 acres of land to the government for the establishment of a university college in Tepa, with the project about 60 per cent completed so far.

In further support of the project, he is building an administration block for the college.

The Omanhene also donated land for the establishment of Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College and supported the college to undertake significant expansion of hostels, staff quarters and additional classrooms.

“These improvements have enabled the college to accommodate more students and provide them with the facilities they need to succeed,” he said about some of the investments he had made in education so far.

Scholarship

The Tepahene further disclosed that the traditional council under his authority had instituted a scholarship scheme, in collaboration with OLAM Ghana, for students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the traditional area.

The scheme is said to have benefited over 120 children so far.

“These scholarships have made a significant difference in the lives of many young people, giving them the opportunity to achieve their dreams and contribute to the development of their community,” the traditional ruler said. 

Other initiatives 

Nana Adusei Ampem said he also donated 70 acres of land towards the construction of the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Hospital in Tepa.

“This initiative has increased access to medical services and health education,” he stated.

He added that 20 acres of land had also been released free of charge to the Ghana Armed Forces for the establishment of a military base in the town.

The traditional council has also established a rural bank which is supporting the economic development of the area.

Proceeds from the Silver Jubilee anniversary will go into the construction of a social centre in Tepa.
