Wild NDC jubilation in Kumasi ahead of EC's declaration
Hundreds of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters thronged the streets of the Kumasi Metropolis yesterday afternoon to jubilate, even before the Electoral Commission officially declares John Dramani Mahama as the president-elect.
A visit to some communities, including Atonsu, Esereso, Oforikrom, indicated that supporters, based on figures they had gathered, believed their party was in a 'comfortable lead' hence their celebration.

The situation was heightened at Asawase, Aboabo and Asokore-Mampong - NDC dominated communities - as some took to the streets.
While some rode in the buckets of tricycles, popularly known in Kumasi as Aboboyaa, others were seen on motorbikes, with some perching on moving vehicles.
Jubilation
Carried away by music from blurring sound systems, supporters danced to some party songs and that of the NPP. Prominent among the songs was "Aseda" by King Paluta, which in recent times resonated among members of the NPPs.

Most of the supporters were in party T-shirts, with some holding portraits of their candidate, their presence on the streets resulting in pockets of traffic congestion in parts of Kumasi.
At Atonsu High School Junction, supporters had 'hijacked' the main Atonsu- Lake road.

Some of the supporters had no option than to perform the task of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), by helping to direct moving vehicles to avoid a gridlock.
Some road users, as usual, were not too happy at the traffic congestion created by the supporters, but were considerate in moving slowly on the stretch to avoid accidents.
Some of the supporters perched precariously on the bonnets of moving vehicles at the peril of their lives to express their satisfaction to Ghanaians for voting massively for their candidate.
