Zenith Bank marks 20th anniversary with health walk

Zenith Bank Ghana last Saturday marked its 20th anniversary with a health walk through some major streets in Accra as it celebrates two decades of excellence, innovation and shared growth in the banking industry.

Staff of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd also joined the bank for the walk, as part of the company’s 75th anniversary celebration this year. The bank also invited other corporate clients to join in the exercise.

The walk, which started and ended at Zenith Heights, the bank’s head office, brought together hundreds of participants, including staff, customers, business partners and some persons with disability.

The walk

The procession, which began at Zenith Heights located on the Liberation Street, moved through Liberation Circle towards the Canadian High Commission and passed Jubilee House to the 37 Military Hospital.

From there, participants took a right turn towards the Lands Commission, proceeded to Cantonments Post Office Junction, Ghana International School, and continued through the Akufo-Addo Roundabout to Morning Star School.

The final stretch took them through Danquah Circle, past the Ghana National Fire Service and Police Headquarters and the Ako Adjei Roundabout, before making their way back to Zenith Heights.

The over two-hour walk was characterised by singing and dancing, with participants moving to tunes blasting from speakers mounted on mobile sound systems.

At the finishing point, participants were treated to some refreshment and a brief ceremony, where prizes were presented to winners of special categories.

The Early Bird Treasure Hunt award went to Nana Yaa Assumaning of the Kumasi Branch, who received GH¢1,000.

The Most Spirited Team award went to Ashfoam, which took home GH¢3,000.

The Youngest Walker Boy award went to four-year-old Nana Kwame Dorman, while five-year-old Juldne Ayemtumia received the Youngest Walker Girl award. They both received GH¢500 each.

Appreciation

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Ghana, Henry Chinedu Onwuzurigbo, expressed appreciation to the bank’s stakeholders for their unwavering support and commitment over the past 20 years.

He described the health walk as a symbolic representation of Zenith Bank’s journey in Ghana; one characterised by resilience, innovation and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

“Twenty years ago, we began a journey fuelled by vision, driven by innovation, and anchored in service excellence. Today, we walk to honour the strides we have made, strides that have transformed the banking landscape in Ghana and elevated the Zenith brand to one of strength, innovation and trust,” he noted.

Achievements

Highlighting the bank’s achievements, the Managing Director said Zenith Bank had grown significantly since its establishment, becoming a leading force in Ghana’s financial sector.

He stated that the bank’s total assets had grown from less than GH¢65 million at inception to over GH¢22.5 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2025, while shareholders’ funds had increased from a little over GH¢7 million to GH¢2.6 billion within the same period.

Mr Onwuzurigbo further stated that Zenith Bank currently ranked as the sixth-largest commercial bank in the country among 23 licensed banks, maintaining a robust capital adequacy ratio well above regulatory requirements a reflection of its financial stability and resilience.

He credited the bank’s success to the collective efforts of its board, management, staff, customers, regulators, partners and the communities it served.
