Zoomlion undertake extensive disinfestation, disinfection in Ho municipality
Waste management group, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has ended 2025 with extensive disinfestation and disinfection activities at various locations in the Ho municipality.
The last quarter exercise covered public and institutional toilets, communal refuse container sites, markets, homes, the municipal assembly offices, as well as drains and unauthorised refuse disposal sites.
The Regional Vector Officer of the group, Isaac Ablormeti, told the Daily Graphic in an interview on Monday that the objective was to prevent cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery and other communicable and mosquito-related illnesses among the populace.
He said the target vectors were flies, cockroaches, mosquitoes, mice, rats and other harmful pests and vectors that threaten public health.
Mr Ablormeti said the disinfestation and disinfection exercises were not limited to Ho alone, but simultaneously took place in other districts and municipalities in the region.
“It is the company’s intervention policy to rid the areas of pests and vectors, and this is being executed in collaboration with the district and municipal assemblies,” he added.
He assured that Zoomlion was resolute in reducing the population of pests and disease vectors to the lowest possible level in communities, thereby minimising their threat of spreading diseases and safeguarding the public from vector-related health risks.
Meanwhile, the Ho Municipal Environmental Officer, Lawrence Senya, said the disinfestation and disinfection activities were necessary to promote sanitation in the communities and urged the sprayers to work with zeal and enthusiasm to ensure comprehensive coverage of all areas.
Mr Senya commended Zoomlion for sustaining the exercise over the years.
The beneficiary communities of the disinfestation and disinfection exercise included Amevor, Ahoe-Duga, Wusu-Blisam, Dome-Achianse and Hopedo electoral areas.
The others are Bake-Gbloefe, Hliha, Toviadzi, Fiave, Atikpui, and Matse-Ando electoral areas.
The rest are Tanyigbe, Tokokoe, Akoefe-Kpenoe, Klefe, Sokode, Lume Atsiame, Kpoanyigba, and Shia electoral areas.
