Ghana shuts land borders for 48 hours for Election 2024 [UPDATED]
Ghana has shut all the land borders for a period of 48 hours for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
A statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior said the borders will re-open at 6pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Entering Ghana through the Kotoka International Airport is however still open to receive travellers.
The Ministry of the Interior has ordered the temporary closure of all land borders as part of measures to ensure the integrity of the December 7 General Elections.
In a press stated dated December 6, 2024, signed by the Minister of the Interrior, Henry Quartey, it was explained that the "temporary closure is with immediate effect and ends at 6:00pm on Sunday, 8th December 2024.
"The Ministry urges all citizens, and travellers to and from Ghana, to cooperate with State Security Agencies enforcing this directive.
