Ghana welcomes Russian investors

The Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has said Ghana welcomes Russian investors desirous of doing business in the country.

He noted that Ghana had large reserves of mineral and natural resources in which the Russian investment community could invest for the mutual benefit of the two countries and their peoples. 

He was speaking on the topic, "Advancing Russia-African Economic Frontiers during a panel discussion at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday. 

The Vice-President explained that Ghana was endowed with large stretches of fertile lands and massive water bodies which were available for agricultural production.

He further explained that, the discovery of large reserves of oil and gas in the country had opened the floodgates for investment in the sector and enjoined Russia, which has considerable expertise in the industry, to share its experience with Ghana.

The Vice-President informed the gathering that Ghana had relatively developed its infrastructure in terms of electricity generation, expanded ports, good roads and development of airports to facilitate the export of products.

He pointed out that the tourism sector also provided interesting prospects for investment since the country had long stretches of coast and numerous natural attractions and sites which could be developed to attract tourists. 

Mr Amissah-Arthur further explained that Ghana also had a favourable investment regime which ensured investors maximum returns on their investment in the various sectors of the economy. 

He reiterated that Ghana remained the most preferred investment destination in the West African sub-region since it had enjoyed unrestrained democratic governance which had witnessed change of governments through the ballot box for the past 24 years.
