GOLDBOD suspends NK Benark Enterprise licence, closes all shops nationwide

The Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) has suspended the licence of NK Benark Enterprise, a licensed gold buyer, and ordered the immediate closure of all its trading shops across the country.

The action, announced in Accra on September 16, 2025, follows alleged gold-related offences involving the company. Its sole proprietor, Mr Bernard Nkrumah, has been arrested and is facing prosecution before the High Court.

In a public notice, GoldBod warned miners, traders, and the public against conducting any transactions with NK Benark Enterprise. The board said the suspension will remain in place until further notice.

“The Ghana Gold Board wishes to inform the general public that it has suspended the licence and closed all trading shops of NK Benark Enterprise, a licensed gold buyer (Tier 2), with immediate effect,” the statement said.

GoldBod said it was working to clean up Ghana’s gold sector, which has faced long-standing compliance challenges and illegal trading practices. It noted that enforcement actions would be taken against offenders regardless of their licence status.

The decision is expected to affect gold trading communities across the country, where NK Benark Enterprise has operated as a recognised buyer.
