Dubbed Millennium Maintenance Fund, the initiative launched at Fitzgerald Centre, Accra, aims at raising GH¢3 million to among others finance various projects and provide financial aid to students of the school.

According to the President of the 2000 year group, Nana Akua Birmeh, the idea was formed out of their desire to help provide quality education for students as a way of giving back to the school.

Ms Birmeh said upon assessing the school's condition, they decided to establish an endowment fund to ensure its long-term sustainability.

“Upon assessing the state of our school, we decided to come together establish a fund. A fund that we expect to last generations, so that the school would always have something to fall on to manage its infrastructure”, she stated.

She emphasised the need to emulate enduring educational institutions globally and ensure their school has reliable financial support for maintaining its infrastructure.

“It is not for nothing that in other countries, schools which are hundreds and hundreds of years old, produce generations and generations of phenomenal people. Why can’t we do that for our school?

"This fund is going to be organised in a way that, every year, the school can fall on us, the alumni and the fund. We cannot watch our school go down because they do not have the capacity to maintain its facilities”, she added.
