He said Ghana was endowed with natural resources, and was conducive for investors who might want to invest in the country.

“I want to appeal to Nigerians who are in the country and those yet to come to consider investing in Ghana because there are many opportunities to exploit,” he said.

Induction ceremony

Chief Eze made the call during his induction ceremony in Accra last Friday by the Sempe Wulomo (Oyenu Wulomo) as a subject of the Sempe Chief, Nii Adote Otintor II.

The ceremony, which was characterised by various displays, brought Ghanaians and Igbos living in the country together.

Prospects for Ghana and Nigeria

According to the newly installed chief, the investment would foster peace and tranquillity between Ghana and Nigeria.

He stated that Ghana and Nigeria had always had a good working relationship, adding that his induction would deepen the bond between the two countries.

He said it would also promote the culture and language of Igbos living in the country. He explained that it was imperative to be inducted in order to enable his fellow Nigerians operate freely in the country.

Chief Eze used the opportunity to call on all Nigerians living in Ghana to be law-abiding and eschew rebelliousness, adding “when you are law-abiding it will help the security of the land.”

Prospects for the Igbos

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Mankrado of Nmenmeete (Russia), Nii Addo Abossey Bulley II, indicated that the coronation was very symbolic, and explained that the Igbos living on the Sempe lands were their subjects.

That, according to him, meant that the Igbos would enjoy all the rights the people of Sempe enjoyed.

“This induction means that whenever we are having any celebration such as Homowo, they will join us,” he added.

Mandate of Chief Eze

Nii Abossey, who also stood in the stead of the paramount chief of the Sempe Traditional Area, said the Igbo chief had the responsibility to ensure that all the Igbos living under him were properly catered for.

He, however, assured him of the Sempe Chief’s unflinching support in whatever they did, and advised that whenever they faced any challenge, they should quickly report it for assistance.

He charged all the Igbos living in the country to be law-abiding, and live in peace and harmony with all Ghanaians.

Responding to questions regarding the possibility of installing another Igbo chief in Sempe, he allayed the fears of the Igbos and said it was impossible for such an act to occur.
