IMANI, Moroccan Embassy sign pact

Ghanaian think tank, IMANI and the Moroccan Embassy in Ghana Tuesday signed a partnership to promote trade and business between the two countries and also among all countries located in the Atlantic space.

A statement issued by IMANI Tuesday, explains that the agreement “comprises the organisation of an international event in Ghana to discuss how Ghana and Morocco can take advantage of the common Geographical location in the Atlantic space” to promote trade and business. 

“IMANI's founder, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe noted that the Kingdom of Morocco is an important partner to Ghana. From the financial sector to energy Moroccan commercial interest abound in Ghana even though many Ghanaians are oblivious of this. This cooperation seeks to make Ghanaians aware of the opportunities for both Ghana and Morocco.” 

The Moroccan ambassador to Ghana, Mrs. Nezha Alaoui M’Hammdi on her part said “Today we celebrate the birth of a hopeful collaboration full of projects between the Embassy of Morocco and IMANI. I want to emphasise that this collaboration aims to be a tool to consolidate and strengthen the bilateral relations between Morocco and Ghana.”

She said the Embassy believes IMANI is a figurehead in intellectual activism in the civil society landscape in Ghana, adding that with a very clear mission, steadfast board and committed staff, IMANI is considered as a vibrant voice among Ghanaian think tanks. 

“I stress that this collaboration is a strong signal, which unveils that the power of ideas carried on by the civil society, and should be leveraged for a fruitful cooperation.”

The Embassy of Morroco also donated Gh¢10,000 towards IMANI's 10th anniversary celebrations.
