Interior Minister visits Police Headquarters, pledges support for security efforts

The Minister for the Interior, Mohamed-Mubarak Muntaka, has assured the Ghana Police Service of the government’s support in maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and strengthening national security.

During a working visit to the Police Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Mr Muntaka commended the Service for its role in ensuring public safety, particularly during the election period.

He reaffirmed the government’s backing for the police in carrying out their duties effectively.

“The government recognises the dedication of the Ghana Police Service in maintaining peace and security. We will continue to support you in delivering your constitutional mandate,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare assured the Minister that the Service remains committed to enforcing the law professionally and maintaining national stability.

To mark the Minister’s first official visit since assuming office, an all-female Guard of Honour was mounted in his honour.

He also toured key facilities at the headquarters, including the GH Police TV studios, the newly built Police Shop, and the Surveillance Centre.
