As part of efforts to improve sanitation and curb the spread of disease, LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited, in collaboration with the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, carried out a comprehensive fumigation and disinfection exercise at the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Market and its surrounding areas in Accra.

The exercise, which took place on Sunday morning and lasted over five hours, targeted key sections of the busy market. Starting at 9 a.m., fumigation teams moved through the area, spraying and disinfecting hotspots to help reduce the risk of diseases such as cholera and malaria.

Mr. Kareem Abu, Managing Partner of LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting public health initiatives as part of its corporate social responsibility.

He noted that LCB’s goal is to use its expertise and resources to alleviate the challenges faced by Ghanaians, particularly in sanitation and public health.

Chairman of the Spare Parts Dealers Association, Mr. Henry Okyere, emphasized the need for continuous public education and personal responsibility in maintaining cleanliness.

He highlighted that the accumulation of waste and poor hygiene practices had made such disinfection exercises essential, recommending that they be conducted at least twice a year.

“This initiative is necessary to prevent outbreaks of mosquito-borne illnesses and diarrheal diseases like cholera,” Mr. Okyere stated. He also appealed to the government for support in sustaining such health-focused interventions.

The exercise forms part of the national “Keep Ghana Clean” campaign. LCB Worldwide Ghana, a company specializing in crisis management and environmental health solutions, indicated that the effort would not end at Abossey Okai. Procurement Manager Yaw Edem King called on the Ministry of Health to collaborate with LCB, noting that similar sanitation exercises are planned for other major markets across the country.

The initiative was warmly welcomed by both traders and residents, who praised LCB Worldwide Ghana and the Spare Parts Dealers Association for their proactive steps in safeguarding public health and improving the overall business environment.
