President Mahama to host Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa for state visit

President John Dramani Mahama will from Wednesday host Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Accra for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.

A statement issued by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said Mr Mnangagwa is expected to arrive at the Accra International Airport at 3:00 p.m. on April 1, 2026. He will be received with full military honours, including a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute.

The statement said the visit would include bilateral talks at the Peduase Lodge, following a private meeting between the two leaders.

Discussions are expected to focus on trade, tourism, agriculture, health, sanitation, anti-corruption efforts and strategies to tackle unemployment.

The talks will conclude with the signing and exchange of Memoranda of Understanding in areas of mutual interest.

As part of his itinerary, Mr Mnangagwa will tour the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant to receive briefings on Ghana’s healthcare delivery and waste management systems.

He will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he is expected to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding President.

President Mahama will host a state banquet in honour of his guest on the evening of his arrival, underscoring the longstanding ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe.

Mr Mnangagwa is scheduled to depart on Friday, April 3, 2026, bringing the visit to a close.
