Residents of Ho responded to the National Flood Aftermath Clean-Up Exercise with great zeal and enthusiasm, with most of them starting at dawn.
As of 9:30 am, the principal streets of the Volta regional capital were spotlessly clean. This was readily evident on Independence Avenue, Togbe Tawiah Street, and Residency Road, with no trace of rubbish. Apart from the streets, thorough clean-ups were also carried out in the neighbourhoods.
Shops and food joints were closed during the exercise, which involved civil and public servants, tertiary institutions, security agencies, and other members of the public.
As early as 5 am, public address systems in the various divisions started reminding residents of the clean-up exercise and urged them to turn up in good time.
At Sokode-Lokoe and Sokode-Gbogame, the clean-up was led by the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Stephen Adom, who commended residents for their prompt and massive turnout.
He said their turnout demonstrated the high sense of patriotism of the people of Ho municipality.
"It also means we will continue to keep the Ho municipality clean all the time," he added.
