According to her, studies have revealed that regular blood donation helps in reducing risk of damage to liver as well as help in improving cardiovascular health and obesity.

Ms Kemawor and other contestants in the 2015 Miss Ghana beauty pageant recruited voluntary donors in and around the Rawlings Park area at Markola in Accra to donate blood, as part of the Miss Ghana Foundation’s commitment to helping increase blood stock level at the National blood Service.

Participants also benefited from free dental screening alongside the blood donation exercise.

She said the opportunity to undergo free mini health examinations, which included checklist for diseases related blood pressure and other infectious diseases, was another incentive for Ghanaians to regularly donate blood.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Alfred Oko Vanderpuye, who graced the occasion, reminded the public about the dreadful consequences anytime there was blood shortage at the Blood Service and hospital blood banks.

Mr Vanderpuye, therefore, urged Ghanaians to be part of regular voluntary blood donation activities to avoid any unforeseen crisis.
