The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has seized 2,372.38 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of GH¢1.18 million during an operation at Gbi-Wegbe near Hohoe in the Volta Region.
The seizure was made during a special anti-drug operation conducted in the early hours of May 31, 2026.
A statement issued by the Commission on June 1, 2026, said the operation followed intelligence gathered on the activities of persons suspected to be involved in the storage and distribution of illegal drugs.
According to the statement, the intelligence-led officers to a farmhouse and warehouse facility at Gbi-Wegbe, where the suspected cannabis was found.
The Commission said officers raided the premises and recovered the substance believed to be cannabis.
NACOC estimated the street value of the suspected drugs at GH¢1,186,190.
The statement said no arrests had been made at the time of the operation, adding that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest persons connected with the suspected illegal activity.
It said the operation formed part of efforts by the Commission to clamp down on the production, trafficking and distribution of illegal narcotic drugs across the country.
The Commission added that investigations into the case were continuing.
